Utilization of Biopertalite for Fuel Efficiency and Reduction in CO and CO2 Gas Emissions in Four-Wheel Motor Vehicles

Emissions of carbon monoxide (CO) and dioxide (CO2) gases are the main problem that must be rectified as they harmful contribute to global warming through greenhouse gas effect. In Indonesia, motor vehicles, especially four wheelers, one biggest contributors with up 71 million tons CO2 emissions energy consumption 179 barrel oil equivalent. Bioethanol has octane rating >100, which is higher than gasoline; emission contribution only 0.02 kg/L, lower from gasoline (2.23 kg/L). Accordingly, a mixture bioethanol solution proposed in this study solve issues CO emissions. Gasoline consists six products, namely E-0, E-5, E-10, E-15, E-20, E-25, have different percentage values (0%–25%). This was conducted engine testing rpm (500–2500 rpm) identify concentration mass emissions, fuel efficiency, cost efficiency. Based on test results, product succeeded reducing by 86% 30.6% Pertalite (E-0) increasing efficiency 51.76% for 1 L 33.6% after considering actual price Pertalite. Therefore, can existing problems.
